Hey there! I’m Rocky! Yes, that is my actual name. My wife, Kelcie, and I are Mississippi people. We have spent our whole lives in Mississippi minus four years at Asbury Theological Seminary in Kentucky. We have been welcomed by our Jackson family. We have a beautiful little girl named Bella, and a Shih Tzu named Balboa. Kelcie and I are Ole Miss graduates and fans, but my real sports love is the Kansas City Chiefs. It was love at first sight back in 2002. I love being a dad, and Kelcie loves putting up with me! We absolutely love watching movies! I love hanging out with people by playing sports, board games, and in any way I can. Did I mention that I love jiu-jitsu? In other words, I am the smiling pastor that you don’t mess with. I am joking of course! I absolutely love Jesus! I am not always the best at it just like any good and healthy relationship, but I try my best to be the disciple God dreamt for me to be. I am at Christ United because I believe them when they say that they care about all people connecting to Jesus and coming alive. That sounds like a place where I can work and do ministry!
As the young adult minister, I assist 18-30 somethings to connect with Jesus and one another. Whether you are starting college, pursuing your career or starting a family, we want to do life together with you. We have a safe space for you to be yourself and be honest with others. You'll find friends who are genuine, a place to belong and Biblical teaching to help you connect to Christ more fully. You are welcome here!
TUESDAY NIGHT Group
Meeting Time: Tuesdays 6:30pm Youth Worship Center
What to expect: Each Tuesday night our young adults (18 - 30's) group gathers on campus in the Youth Worship Center. Our community group is open to young adults inside and outside of our church. All young adults are welcome here, and you see that the moment you come through the door. We dive into the Word together, think theologically and take the conversation to the dinner table afterwards. If you know a young adult who is looking for a group for them, invite them to Tuesday nights. Let’s see Jesus in the Word and break bread together!
Meeting Time: Sundays at 9:45am Youth Center - 3
What to expect: Our purpose with The Launch is to prepare people transitioning from one stage of life to another whether that be high school seniors going into college, full time college to the workforce, coming into a relationship, ending a relationship, etc.
In today's culture it is very easy to allow ourselves to be defined by our occupation, financial status, or relational status. The Launch is focused on helping others find their identity in Christ and how that relationship with Him plays into sharing the gospel with others.
Growing in the Wild
Time: Sundays at 9:45am Adult Wing Room 224
What to expect: Growing in the Wild is designed for young marrieds has become like our second small group; there is a community vibe with this group of people I’ve never experienced in a Sunday School class. It is a super flexible, relaxed space on Sunday mornings where we delve into deep conversation and sometimes debate about Scripture, our faith, parenting, marriage, and our purpose without fear of losing acceptance. I think the best thing about this group is the sense that anyone can truly come exactly as they are, be honest about their faults, and find a genuinely accepting community.
